My name is Taylor and am currently a senior at Northern Arizona University earning my BS of Electrical Engineering. In my hometown of Mesa, AZ I was afforded the opportunity to work on and lead a FIRST Robotics team to nationals in Atlanta. I found a passion for engineering through this experience and knew that it was what I wanted to do. I am now focused on the field of communication and signal processing and have taken classes such as DSP and random signals and systems to further my education. I like to be very active in sports and do side projects to exercise my mind a little.

During the summer of 2013 my friend and I constructed drift trikes. We started with basic bike frames welded with pipe fittings to the final product of custom bent exhaust piping for a frame, boat seat for comfort and kart tires with 10" PVC piping as wheels. This allowed us to drift down big hills and we were able to sell a few to make extra cash on the side.
As part of my electromagnetic course at NAU I had to construct a junkyard generator with a group. My group decided to come up with the salsa generator. A salsa maker was used as our frame and sink grates were used to hold our coils of wire. Using strong windmill magnets and Faraday's Law of induction we were able to generate close to 7.4 Volts and light several different colored LEDs.
I lead a team of engineers in order to build a self-sustaining chicken coop for one of my general engineering courses. The design is inspired from the ram-earth homes where tires filled with dirt are used as insulation. We then constructed a main chicken coop out of tinted plastic for roofing and wood framed coop. The chicken coop was angled in such a way that in the summer it would stay cooler and maintain warmth in the winter.
This video highlights the drift trike that we built. It shows us attempting drifting 360 degree turns. It took us a while but eventually we were able to attain 360s. Overall the drift trike was a success and using it in Flagstaff's hills is a blast.
When it decides to snow in Flagstaff I love to get out and go snowboarding. Just started learning and have a blast doing it. Just bought all of my own gear for the upcoming snow season.
My friend introduced me to mountain biking in college. Going through all of the forest trails in Flagstaff is amazing and beautiful. Fortunately when it starts snowing I can switch to snowboarding, but otherwise I have great rides.
